Karl Thornton - President

Karl Thornton has over 25 years of experience as an Information Technology Manager and Educator. With more than a decade of experience delivering major projects and strategic and technology plans for libraries, schools, and social service organizations nationally, Mr. Thornton is responsible for managing all aspects of AWE’s business operations. Mr. Thornton has degrees in Computer Science, Education, and Business from the University of Pennsylvania.

Steve Russell - Vice President, Business Development and Client Services

Steve Russell, co-founder of AWE, has over 26 years of information systems background in all aspects of the technology industry. Mr. Russell is responsible for managing all aspects of AWE’s customer service and business development initiatives. Mr. Russell has worked for market leaders like SmithKline Beecham, Sun Company, SUNGuard Data Systems, Wang Laboratories, and Digital Equipment Corporation.

William Hoffner - Chief Technology Officer

William Hoffner brings over 25 years of progressive technical excellence to AWE. Mr. Hoffner has provided senior level technical consulting to libraries, non-profits, multiple businesses, and other clients. At AWE, Mr. Hoffner is responsible for the technical product development of the Library Information Station™, Early Literacy Station™, and NetCare offerings.

Mike Swink - Vice President of International Distribution and Reseller Programs

Mike Swink has over 25 years of experience in COO and CEO roles with software technology companies. He has successfully commercialized technology in seven new markets, most recently with an international financial-transaction software start-up that was sold to Citigroup in 2007. His international experience includes work and travel to 52 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. Mr. Swink has a BSEE in Computer Science and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Kansas, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

George Lokken - Chief Financial Officer

George Lokken has over 25 years of Finance and Accounting Management experience. Mr. Lokken is responsible for managing AWE financial operations. Mr. Lokken has his Accounting Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and MBA from Widner University.
